Do you usually root for the underdog?

So it's no secret, I'm a huge college basketball fan. I don't really follow much throughout the year, but once March rolls around, our TV is usually tuned in to the tournament. Although I do have Louisville winning it all (the only #1 seed left in the tournament), I can't help but find myself root for the underdog- no matter what my bracket says.

This year, Wichita State has made it to the Final Four, which is a huge upset for lots of basketball fans out there, but I love it. And I'm not just talking about basketball, it's in my nature to root for the underdog. But I'm curious, is that the norm? Do we all love the underdog? Is it just human nature to root for the improbable? I mean Rocky I, II, III, IV, V, and VI can't be wrong... we all get a thrill seeing the little guy win, right?

Inspiration

I feel so fortunate to have so many truly inspirational people in my life. It goes without saying, that Jonnie is one of them. Jon has been one of my closest and best friends, since high school, through college, and now, into adulthood. The man of honor at my wedding. We've lived together, and we've laughed together (so hard that it hurt), and when I think about him, I smile.

Jon has recently joined a pretty awful club, one that I hate to be a member of, but then again, one that is pretty much inevitable. His amazing father passed away last month, after leading a very inspirational life himself. Now, Jonnie lives on, sharing the love and joy that his father taught and instilled in him. Today, Jonnie started a blog documenting his new adventure- traveling the world in honor of his dad- going to all of the places that he's ever wanted to go, and spreading his ashes.

I truly wish my best friend all the joy in the world while he embarks on this amazing adventure. Please check out his blog- Jon Carmichael: An Unexpected Jounrney, because I have no doubt that it will inspire you. And we can all use a little inspiration now and again. xxox

What's your all time favorite car?

Do you have a favorite car? I don't know if I do, but if I could get anything- it would have to be a vintage something-or-other. I love the glam and class of old cars from the 1950s, they're so beautiful, they're like pieces of art. And I have this dream that one day I'll finally learn how to really drive a stick, and get to cruise around in a vintage Porsche Carerra (like Dylan in 90210, remember??)

So, Zac and I test drove a few cars today. Needless to say, they were more family style than vintage- but a girl can dream.

I'm trying to convince Zac on a (used) Volvo SUV or Ford Edge, while he's thinking a bit more practical. Of course. We like to balance each other out like that. ;) What do you think? This feels like such a big decision. It's not everyday you buy a car, so I want to make sure it's one that is both practical and cool. What's your favorite family friendly car?

Where to Eat Wednesday: LYFE Kitchen

I've been trying to make an effort to eat healthier lately. My friend and I tried a new place in Culver City that was DELICIOUS. LYFE Kitchen specializes in food that is healthy AND tastes good. Everything there is under 600 calories, and similarly low in sodium. They focus on using local foods too. I had a napa cabbage salad with grilled salmon that tasted even better than it sounds. It didn't help my calorie intake that I ordered a beer, but James was home with grandma, so I thought I'd go crazy.

It was so yummy, I couldn't even wait to eat before taking the picture.

Where does the time go?

I've noticed recently that I don't use my computer as much as I used to. I'm spending less time surfing the web, and just checking email and social media through my iPhone (yea, I've become one of those people). Anyway, I just can't believe I haven't posted yet in March.

We've been pretty busy. Here we are in Monterey celebrating our 10 years together a few weekends ago:

We had so much fun! We took James to the Aquarium, rented bikes, and ate yummy food together. Plus, we drove through Big Sur on the way home and it was magnificently beautiful. James was a champ, and only threw up on the last curve of the windy ride! ;) Poor thing, got his car sickness from his mama!
